Estimate a roof replacement budget
Use measured roof surface if you have it. Otherwise enter the footprint covered by the roof, including attached roofed areas, and a rough pitch. Living space on two floors should not be counted twice.
The same roof in three materials
2,000 sq. ft. of measured roof surface. Norman and the Oklahoma City metro installed planning ranges, including ordinary tear-off.
- Architectural asphalt shingles
- $9,000 to $15,000
- Class 4 impact-resistant shingles
- $10,000 to $18,000
- Exposed-fastener metal
- $17,000 to $24,000
Same roof area, different materials. Use the calculator below for your measurements. Roof condition and project details can move the final price outside these ranges.
Use the footprint covered by the roof, including a garage or covered porch. A two-story home's living area is not its roof footprint.
Rise in inches for each 12 inches across. The default is 6:12. If you do not know, leave it as a rough assumption. Do not climb up to measure.
Your planning range
About 2,236 sq. ft. of roof surface
Norman and the Oklahoma City metro installed replacement planning ranges, including ordinary tear-off. Roof complexity, access and damaged decking can change the final quote.
Discuss your roof projectRegional planning ranges for one existing layer, moderate complexity, ordinary access and usable decking. These are not a quote for your roof. Updated 2026-09-07.
Where the rates come from
The rates are based on Hiner Roofing’s August 25, 2026 Oklahoma pricing guide, which covers Oklahoma City, Moore and Norman. They describe another regional contractor’s published range, not prices offered by Norman Peak Roofing.
A roofing square is 100 square feet. The calculator converts those published per-square rates to measured roof surface. Footprint mode adds the slope implied by your pitch entry. It does not add an arbitrary waste percentage or assume every roof needs decking replacement.
Extra layers, steep or intricate roofs, damaged decking, structural repairs and special flashing can increase a quote. Confirm the actual scope with the roofer.
What changes the written quote
The covering is only part of the job. A useful estimate makes the work underneath it clear.
- Tear-off and disposal
Removing one existing layer is the starting assumption. Extra layers and difficult loading access take more work.
- Decking and details
The roofer checks the deck, roof edges, valleys and flashing. Damaged wood and unusual transitions need their own scope.
- Pitch and access
Steep slopes, several roof levels and limited room around the house affect how the job is staged.
Questions about roofing prices
Is this an estimate I can accept?
No. It is a planning calculation using published regional rates. The roofer measures your roof, checks its condition and gives you the proposal for the actual work.
Does a Class 4 shingle make hail damage impossible?
No. Its impact rating describes laboratory testing, not immunity to an Oklahoma storm. Compare product details and tradeoffs in shingle options.
What if a repair will do?
A replacement budget does not decide whether the roof needs replacing. If the problem is isolated and the surrounding roof is sound, roof repair can be the right work. A free inspection helps settle that question.
